Week two - a round up

03 Apr 2020

Dear 6SM,

I have really missed everyone this week: my work colleagues who support me each day; my friends who I play football and perform music with; but mostly I have missed teaching. Not because I love the sound of my voice (ok, maybe I do a little bit) but because I miss your wonderful personalities, talents and all the fun we have each day.

It has, however, cheered me up speaking to many of you on the phone - even if some of you find it painfully awkward!

I remind myself and family every day that this situation is not going to last forever and we should focus on, and appreciate, the positives. I never usually have this much time to spend with my family (at home or on the phone), learn Spanish, improve as a musician, focus on my health, fitness and diet, volunteer to help the vulnerable and be creative with online teaching. If I achieve some of these goals I will be really proud.

You may have your own goals too, maybe you’re learning to bake or cook with mum and dad, working on the family allotment, rebuilding the back garden tree house, discovering crazy things in the forest, completing an online viral challenge, moulding pottery, perfecting your dinosaur artwork, coding an online game or writing a story (maybe even with chapters and illustrations).

PLEASE - let me know some of your goals or targets for the next few weeks and keep uploading your pictures or commenting on this page!

Remember it is the Easter holidays, I want you to treat it as such: relax, have fun with your families and talk to your relatives – whether they are near or far.

Remember, there are lots of activities to keep you occupied over the holidays: you could read a book or comic for pleasure; watch a film and discuss it with your friends or family; play a board game or game of cards together; or introduce your family to silent ball, four square or another game you play with your friends.

I would also love it if you could record yourself reciting your poem (audio only - mp3) and upload it with a picture of yourself. After Easter, I'd like to post them all on the website!
You can also keep working on your Topic, Science and Art projects or try one of these activities.

Whatever you do, make sure you stay safe and look after yourselves and your families.
I would like to wish each and every one of you a happy holiday. I am looking forward to guiding you through the next term – whether it is online or in person!

Mr Mussell  x
