P4C/Art/English - 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square

28 Feb 2016

The Fourth Plinth Programme is the most talked about contemporary art prize in the UK. Funded by the Mayor of London and supported by Arts Council England, the programme invites world class artists to make astonishing new works for the centre of the capital city.

Fourth Plinth Schools Awards 2016

Once again, London’s schoolchildren from all London boroughs came up with brilliant ideas about what it means to live in the capital.
The Fourth Plinth Schools Awards is growing every year and inspiring more and more primary and secondary school children in London to create art and think about what it can say about our city.

Open to all primary and secondary schools in London, this annual competition provides an opportunity for students aged 5-15 to create an artwork inspired by the commissions for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Information from:  https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/arts-and-culture/art-and-design/fourth-plinth

At first we had a look at the history of the plinths in Trafalgar Square.

After this we had a look at art works that were currently and previously on display on the 4th plinth.

We completed spider grams with all the information we know about London.

After this we created our own pieces of art for the 4th Plinth.

We also wrote down our inspiration for our pieces of art.
