We also learnt how to add pounds and pennies.
You need to remember the place value of digits
eg. HTU.
There are 100pennies in a pound, so 300 pennies is the same as £3.00. The 2 zeroes are place holders for pennies.
300p + 56p = 356p which is the same as £3.56
You need to use either the £ or the p sign, you don't need to use them together.
We also learnt how to use the block paper in our books to add amounts of money vertically.
TU
eg. £3.56
£4.45+
£8.01
