The Trooping of the Colour

We have been learning all about different British customs and events. Last week we learnt about the Trooping of the Colour.

The Trooping of the Colour is the Queen's official birthday parade
 


All the royal family come to watch. Lily is our Queen- she is wearing a very Queen-like hat!

During the Trooping of the Colour the Queen inspects her troops.



All the troops in 1HW have passed the inspection!



It is very important that all the troops know what the 'Colour' looks like. The Colour is the regimental flag, here it is being shown to the troops:





It was a boiling hot afternoon. We couldn't imagine how footguards in bearskins did it!
