Happy Bank Holiday Weekend!

07 May 2020

Good morning everyone,

What a beautiful day!  Happy Thursday!  I hope you have enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday and I am sure that you are looking forward to enjoying more of the sunshine on this Bank Holiday weekend.

First of all, a massive thank you and well done to all of you, including parents, who have been working really hard and having a go with the home learning tasks as well as the lovely photos some of you have shared with me. You are AMAZING!  Don't forget, if you were able to do your history project on VE Day, please send your work, any photos of what you've been making,  ideas of things you've got planned for Friday or if your family has a story about the war or VE Day to share.

Remember, just because we can’t get together and mark VE Day with our extended friends and family, it doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to celebrate within the safe bubbles of our own homes. Dedicated programmes will be broadcasted on BBC One (2.45-3.45pm) to mark the VE75 celebrations. The Queen herself will be giving a special address to the nation, at 9pm on 8th May, which is the exact same time that her father, King George VI, spoke to the UK 75 years ago, on the actual VE Day. There are plenty of ways you can still get involved in the big day, from hosting a special VE Day celebrations picnic or afternoon tea at home to decorating the house with flags and bunting, having virtual events with family and friends or whipping up some VE Day-inspired retro snacks and baking treats. VE Day celebrations is not just about victory, it is also about giving thanks to the heroes of WW2,  who gave so much to ensure that we all enjoy and share the freedom we have today.

See below, Vera Lynn’s emotional song, ‘We will meet again’, which is a symbol of hope. This song has a special meaning for all of us, with COVID 19 and lockdown, we can look forward to the hope of meeting again.

Have a wonderful, long weekend with your family.  Until we meet again, stay safe and keep smilingsmiley  I miss you!

Lots of loveheart
Mrs Chetty
