End of Term Celebrations (Production, Graduation & Last Day)

07 Jul 2025

Dear parents & carers

We look forward to having you into school to watch 'The Pirates of the Curry Bean’ by the class of 2025. Our evening performance is this Friday 11th July.

If your child is unable to attend the evening performance please let us know ASAP.

Time
5.15pm All musicians arrive at the main reception. This additional time allows time to tune instruments and store them in position in the hall.

5.30pm All the other actors arrive at the main reception. Changing to take place in Y6 classrooms, other belongings to be stored in 3MS.

5.45pm Doors to the main hall open and parents/carers/audience can take their seats. Piano will be playing! To enter the hall, make your way through the KS1 and Early Years playground to the entrance. As we did for Shaking Up Shakespeare.

6.00pm

The show begins.

Approx. 7.30pm The show ends.

Parents leave the hall, walk through the KS1/EYFS playground and wait for the children outside the main reception.

Children will head back through the school to 3MS, collect their belongings and then be dismissed from the main reception by their class teachers.

Costumes
Children should all leave their costumes in school. Where possible we request that they leave their mobile phones at home.

Audience capacity
We are delighted to invite you into school to watch our Year 6s perform. To ensure we keep the performance at a safe capacity we have limited to two audience spaces per child.
Please note the children have put an enormous effort into producing the show and we want to ensure the focus is on celebrating their performance. Where possible, we are asking that you make other arrangements for younger siblings. Please note all classes from Year 1 and above will have had the opportunity to watch the show during the dress rehearsals.

If you would like to register interest for more spaces in the audience please speak to us and we will endeavour to accommodate this where possible – many children have done this already.

Graduation & Bring & Share Buffet

On the evening of Tuesday 22nd July, we are having our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony in the main hall. Please ensure the children arrive back at school at 5:30pm at the main office to prepare for the celebration.

Parents and carers should make their way through the EYFS playground to the main hall (as for production) where you can begin to take your seats and enjoy some of our wonderful Year 6 pianists from 5.45pm and drop off any food for the bring and share event afterwards in the servery.

The ceremony will start at 6pm, and as we did for production, we are asking that you keep to two audience members per child to ensure we keep to a safe capacity - please let us know if you require additional space.

After the ceremony, the school will remain open until 8:00pm for continued celebrations. We warmly invite all families to take part in a ‘bring and share’ buffet to make the evening extra special.

Please coordinate with one another via the parent WhatsApp groups to organise who will bring what – this helps ensure a good variety and avoid duplicates. As always, please remember we are a nut-free school.

If any parents are happy to volunteer to help prepare or set up the food, we would be very grateful – just let us know!

Last Day Celebrations

We warmly invite you back to Handsworth at 1:45pm on the last day of term to join us for our End of Year Celebrations.

You’ll be able to watch our leavers take part in the Handsworth Tradition of the 'Tunnel of Love', followed by a special performance on stage. After the celebration, all other classes will return to their classrooms, while Year 6 will enjoy some time together in the playground before all children are dismissed at 2:30pm.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year.

Warm wishes,

Mr Mussell, Mr Scott & Mrs McDermott
