Autumn Term Homework
11 Sep 2020
Homework is important as it helps your child to practise the skills they have learnt in school. Encouraging and supporting them to complete it on time will ensure they understand everything that is being taught in lessons.
We will set Maths, Comprehension and Spellings every
Friday. This is a key part of your child’s learning and we expect it to be completed and handed in by the following
Thursday. We will also be offering further opportunities to
extend learning with mini projects and extension activities. These will be published under the homework tab so please look out for these.
If your child is not sure about the homework please encourage them to speak to their teacher before Thursday.
Maths homework is set weekly. Visit
www.mymaths.co.uk and login at the top of the page using your school username and password. On the next page enter your personal username and password in the My Portal box.
Tips for accessing MyMaths
- Add www.mymaths.co.uk to your list of trusted sites.
- Allow Pop Ups.
- Activate Flash in your browser.
- To access MyMaths on an iOS or Android tablet, download the free Puffin Academy app.
Comprehension homework is also set weekly through readtheory.org details for this will follow shortly.
Spellings
Here is a list of spellings for the whole of the Autumn Term.
Please copy out the spellings for the correct week into your spelling book three times.
- Use the ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check’ method to revise them.
- Write one interesting sentence for each work to show that you understand its meaning.
- Remember to use your best handwriting and to check your spellings and punctuation.
Return your book to school on Thursday. You will be tested each week on the words for that week plus five words from the previous week.
