VE Day Topic - Week 5

04 May 2020

Firstly, thank you so much for sending in your  project work so far. Please continue to send any finished pieces to us.

As well as keeping safe, staying home and looking after your families, we are really proud of the effort you have been putting into your work.

This Friday marks the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, is a day celebrating the end of World War II in Europe. The first celebrations began 75 years ago on Tuesday 8th of May 1945. They usually involve street parties and decorations. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the usual celebrations won't be able to take place. Instead, we thought it would be great for you to learn about this important day at home and create some projects to celebrate it.

In preparation for planning this work, I spoke to my grandmother on the phone. I asked her how she celebrated VE Day - she was 7 years old at the time. She said: "The whole street got together for a party. The parents provided all the food like little sandwhiches, jellies and ice cream and the children all had a sing song and played games."

You can choose to do as many of the ideas in the powerpoint below as you wish - or create your own!

Please remeber to upload your work as we love to see how you are keeping productive at home!

Mr Mussell, Mrs Glanvill, Mrs McDermott, Mrs Gobey.

We recommend that you view the lesson by downloading the powerpoint so that you can access the links.
