Lesson three: writing a first draft
Today, you are going to write your first draft of a newspaper report.
Remember to use your plan from yesterday to set out your writing.
Some tips:
- Your headline should be short and snappy.
- The first sentence sums up what the story is about.
- Write in the third person and the past tense.
- Split your report up into paragraphs to help the reader understand the information.
- If you use quotes, don't forget speech marks.
- Use both facts and opinions. Facts answer the five Ws.
You should write for 30-40 minutes. If you finish earlier, you have not written enough - add more details!
