Home Learning - Phonics
28 Jan 2025
Home Learning for Reception
Every day at school, your children spend part of their day learning phonics. This is where we teach the fundamentals of reading and writing. We have now covered Set 1 and Set 2 of the sounds. These are the first 43 sounds that we teach children to read and write.
Below, I am sharing with you short video Phonics sessions that you can do with your child at home. For each sound there is a short video teaching the sound and then another 'word time' video where we apply the sounds we have learned to read words.
I highly recommend using this resource with your children. It follows the same format as our lessons in school so just a little time will be effective in boosting your child's progress in Phonics. You might want to add this into your daily reading time or find another space in your routine where you can fit it in. We buy this resource in as a school because we know that children who engage with phonics at home and school reap the rewards.
