BREAKING DUCK NEWS!

16 Jun 2020

The first stage of hatching starts with the pip. The pip is the first crack of the eggshell that the duck makes with its egg tooth, a tiny lump on the end of its beak. This is a temporary tooth that is only needed for hatching. The egg tooth will fall off within the first week as the duck grows

Dale helped me show you - I didn't have enough hands!

Robin wants to know if someone is going to stay in school overnight to make sure the new duckling is ok and to show him where he can sleep?

Hello Robin, the duckling will stay in the incubator tonight, it is warm and cosy in there and the duckling will feel very safe until the morning. It will help the other ducklings hatch too because they will hear that one duck is already out!. Did you know that ducks don't quack until they are 6 weeks old? instead they chirp or whistle. xxx Miss Walter
