Science: Investigating how Sound is made

11 Nov 2013

We have been learning how sound is made and how we hear sounds

The rice bounced on the drum-skin when it was struck.

The elastic band was just a blur when we plucked it.

Experiments are not always easy: Blowing up balloons was hard and tying a knot was practically impossible!

Our voice vibrated through the balloon.

The ruler sprung up and down fast in a whizz.

Our larynx (voice box) vibrated when we spoke.

The cymbal vibrated when hit and made our fingers feel as if we'd had an electric shock when we touched it!

The sound box in the toy vibrated so much the toy actually moved and it tickled us, which made us laugh!
