Christmas Message from Friends of Handsworth
16 Dec 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
As we get close to the end of a very difficult year, we would like to thank all parents and carers that helped us to raise funds this year.
You have raised over £8,000 for Handsworth Primary School
Together, we have managed to raise over £8,000 through Employee Matching Fund schemes, local business donations, the Easyfundraising app scheme, the AmazonSmile scheme and our events.
The money raised has been put to good use at Handsworth Primary School. These are few of the requests that we were able to fund this year:
-
New books for the library
-
New furniture and games for classrooms
-
Science week
-
Maths week
-
Year 6 leavers gift and hoodies
-
Mental health week
If you have not signed up to some of the schemes mentioned, please click on the links above, get in touch with one of us or check our Facebook page where there is lots of useful information about how you can help raise funds for the school.
Festive treats
The children were meant to have a virtual Elf visit on Monday 14th December but unfortunately the company we had originally booked it with cancelled on us last minute. So there was a joint effort from FOH volunteers and Mrs Nairne to find a suitable replacement three days before the video was supposed be shown to the children! Then came yesterday’s announcement and everything was derailed again, so to ensure our lovely children can have some sort of festive feeling please share this with them at home by clicking on the file above. You will need to choose your child’s year group to watch their virtual Elf Visit. Ho ho ho.
Please click on the link for your class at the bottom of this letter.
Also, due to school closing earlier than expected, Santa’s gifts 🎅 will be left at the school ready for collection once children are back to normal school days.
When we were made aware that the school would have to close earlier this term, as advised by the Local Authority and Public Health, we decided to add in a little extra treat - Cinderella the Panto. Please click on the link and the password is BingBongBang! The panto is available to view any time until 18th December at 00:00. We hope you can have a lovely family time watching it.
A quick reminder that Friends of Handsworth run events for all year groups and families. Some events may cater more towards one audience than another, but we aim to spread the fun across the year to ensure all can participate and enjoy our events while we do some fundraising.
Some big thank yous
As this year draws to a close, we would also like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Nairne – she is an amazing leader who has supported FOH throughout 2020 and continues to inspire school staff and children to be the best they can be. Thank you!
Lastly to our FOH volunteers and committee members - your dedication to support and help the school to deliver an outstanding school experience to our children is, and has always been, a very valuable one. This is especially the case during this particularly difficult year. THANK YOU!
Here’s to a much better 2021 for us all.
