Leslie Kulesh
Mum to Avy and Ola. For two years I have volunteered with FOH. As part of Handsworth Garden Club I installed planters for edible gardens in the playgrounds incorporating their maintenance into curriculum learning. I’m passionate about growing food as a life skill, nutritional education and as outdoor learning. I’m an artist working in textiles & sculpture with over 20 years experience working in small and large institutions, writing grants, partnering with brands and delivering art workshops in schools. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the staff and students at Handsworth and would love the opportunity to further support the school community.
Dave Thomas
My name is Dave, we’ve lived in Highams Park since 2012, and our son has started in Reception this year. Although we’ve only been at Handsworth for six weeks, having friends with children throughout the school, I know it is a great learning environment with a strong sense of community. I’d love the opportunity to be your representative to continue ensuring our children have the best possible start to their lives. I worked on the Nominet (which runs the .uk domain name system) Stakeholder Committee for seven years, meaning I have experience dealing with multiple stakeholder interests. This means I have a good base of transferable skills to bring to the Governor role.
Abi Wright
Running my own business has developed my skills in strategic planning, finance and event management, legal compliance and HR. Five years ago, I founded - www.festivalofthegirl.com - a charity which has equality, diversity, and inclusion at its heart. I engage with stakeholders from a broad spectrum of sectors, I’m responsible for driving the strategic development of the organisation and am proud of what has been achieved to date. The charity grew from my belief in the importance of inspiring young minds and encouraging children to challenge stereotypes and raise aspirations - values which I believe strongly align with the schools.
