Parent Governor Vacancy - reminder - deadline tomorrow
22 Jan 2024
Would you be interested in becoming a Parent Governor on the School Governing Body?
We currently have a vacancy for a parent governor.
Handsworth’s Governing Body supports the school and the Head Teacher and we are responsible for:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
We aim to ensure the school has clear aims and values that are championed by the whole school community. All the work we do has school improvement and pupil and staff well-being at its heart. We work with the Head Teacher and staff in establishing high expectations and promoting effective teaching and learning so that every pupil achieves to the best of their ability.
Our Governing body constitutes 12 volunteers who are parents, staff and members of the wider community. We meet formally either once or twice a term in the evening. We also meet as smaller committees (Resources and Teaching & Learning) once every half term. A governor’s term of office is four years.
If you are interested in becoming a parent governor,
please notify the school office by the end of the day on Wednesday 31st January 2024. If you would like more information, please feel free to get in contact via the ‘Contact Governors’ button on the Governing Body page on the website.
In the likely event that there are multiple parents interested, we will have an election. This will involve each parent writing 100 words describing why they are interested in becoming a governor and parents will get the opportunity to vote based on this.
This is a great opportunity to become involved in your child’s school at a strategic level, join a great hard-working team and is a very rewarding role.
Kind regards
The Governing Body
