Anna Devereux-Murray
Hello everybody, I’m Anna… mum of two at Handsworth; former Barrister, now a primary school teacher and music specialist (actively involved in education throughout Waltham Forest). Just like every other parent at Handsworth, I want the very best for our children. I want them to be happy and confident with a strong belief in themselves! I am not afraid to ask difficult questions and I am used to challenging others and speaking up for what is most important – OUR CHILDREN!! I would welcome the opportunity to join the existing dedicated governors to support Handsworth in its vision for the future.

I believe all children should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential and receive an education where they can grow socially, creatively and academically.
I have three children, a boy who is now in Year 7 at Highams Park school and two girls, one in Reception and the other in Year 2, and our experience at Handsworth has been very positive. I have extensive experience in communications and stakeholder engagement which I can offer to help to ensure the school keeps on improving, so teachers and families can continue to work hand-in-hand to enable all children to grow tall and reach their potential.
Sean Lyons
I feel I have lots to offer in the role of governor. I have worked a variety of roles across the police and most recently specialised in gang, knife and serious youth violence. I now have the responsibility for vulnerable adults and children within a safeguarding role as Detective Inspector.
Handsworth is a fantastic school and I want to help champion its values, forming strong community ties and use my experience to do so. I am passionate about ensuring the future and safety of our children. I would be honoured to be elected as school governor.
