Rainbow Maths challenge-Miss Lloyd's Maths set

26 Feb 2016

We are introducing a new Maths Challenge called 'Rainbow Maths' throughout the school. In Year 3 the focus is rapid recall of multiplication and division facts up to x12 tables. The first challenge is to learn/revise multiplication facts for x3 x4 x9 and x11. We will be practising these times tables 3 times during the week for 5 mins at the beginning of the lessons. On Thursdays there will be a test to see if they can earn a certificate. They will need to answer 15 questions correctly  in 2 mins to achieve this. However they will also be able to get a certificate for doing them correctly in a longer time to encourage them with their learning. They will be a mix of all the tables listed above and as usual they will be out of order. So, as from this week children will be expected to practise for the test as part of their homework. This week I have only given them times tables to practise . I will do this until I feel the children are making progress in the challenges and can complete extra maths homework.
