Superworm spaghetti
Mrs Giacuzzo - 07 Jul 2020
Today we have been creating our own worms using cooked spaghetti pasta.
To make it a little more interesting, we died the spaghetti using food colouring.
You could use these to re-tell the story of Superworm. Cornflour and brown food colouring could be used to create soil and mud.
Or you could create 'super slides, super skipping ropes, super lassos etc' just like in the story. What else can you make out of long, wriggly worms?
You could also have different sized containers readily available for children to fill and empty. Here children can develop mathematical language such as 'full', 'empty', 'long', 'longer', 'short', 'shorter'. Children could compare and order the worms in relation to length.
Children could use spoons, chopsticks or tweezers to move the worms from one container to another, developing fine motor skills.
