A fun game you can play with a member of the family:
If you have a piggy bank, ask your parents if you are allowed to open it to count your money.
Pick up 5 coins.
Put them in a line biggest amount to smallest amount.
Now add up the amount of money starting with the biggest amount first.
Ask someone in the family to play with you. They can pick up 5 coins too. They need to do exactly the same as you. Compare the totals. Who has got the most money?
You can play the game more than once.
Another fun counting activity with you piggy bank money:
You can firstly sort all the different coins.
Now you can count each group of coins.
Write down your answers on a piece of paper.
Now you can add up all the totals.
Start with the biggest number first.
Ask your parents to check if your answer was correct.
Groceries shopping:
Ask your parents if you are allowed to choose 5 objects from the grocery cupboard eg. tin of tuna, box of cereal, packet of crisps. Decide on a reasonable price for each object. Write it on the box or make you own label.Play shop together. One person can be the shop keeper and the other person is the shopper. Use your piggy bank money to pay for it.
HAVE FUN WITH MONEY!
