This term, our Creative Curriculum topic is titled Location, Location, Location.
This theme will cover all manner of subjects.
In literacy, we will be reading poetry and stories from around the world and we will use these to support our writing. We will also be using non-fiction texts to research how life in other parts of the world compares to our own.
In numeracy, we will be comparing and ordering numbers up to 10,000, recognising negative numbers in context, deriving doubles and halves of multiples of 10-500/100-5000, multiplying mentally, 2D symmetry and 3D polyhedron and tetrahedron, understanding standard metric/imperial units of capacity and reading simple timetables. We will also learn multiplication/division facts by heart of which quick recall of these facts are very important. We will also incorporate solving word problems for each of these areas of study.
In science, we will be learning about solids and liquids and how they can be separated.
In geography, we will be exploring the Indian village of Chembakolli. We will investigate the physical and human features (climate, jobs, schools and shops) and how these relate to city life and our lives.
In RE. we will be linking our work in geography to why Hindus worship at home and at a mandir.

In art, we will be sketching elephants to link in with our geography theme and designing our own decorative blankets.
In Music, this term we are lucky to have a professional musician teaching us, more details to follow.
Homework:
As last term, spellings will be sent home on Friday for a test the following Thursday (4JL)
English homework will be set on the back of the spelling test sheet.
Numeracy homework will go home on Friday to be returned the following Thursday.
We will be providing a homework book for each child from this week.
Numeracy homework group will continue on Tuesdays this term.
Reading books will continue to be changed as before, when they have been signed in the home school diary. Please ensure that you read, share and discuss the books with your child.
As always, you are very welcome to speak to us after school. If you feel you need a longer time to talk, please ring the school office in advance to arrange an appointment.
Best wishes for another fabulous term.
