London Youth Games - Sitting Volleyball

Having won the Waltham Forest Sitting Volleyball competition before Christmas, our team went on to represent the borough in the inaugural London Youth Games event.
The team were very excited on their journey across London and arrived with a lot of enthusiasm. Losing the first game could have knocked the confidence from the team but they were so determined and worked so well together that they went on a fantastic run - winning four games.
This meant they qualified for the top 6 and a chance to challenge for the medals. They played two heart stopping games against two very strong teams, winning one and losing one but scoring the most points overall meaning they had qualified for the semi finals. Cue jubilant scences.
The semi final was an epic encounter. At one point it seemed the game was out of reach but again the fantastic spirit and teamwork enabled Handsworth to make an incredible comeback. Just one point behind, the whistle blew and we had to settle for a place in the 3rd and 4th place final. Another brilliant performance secured the bronze medal to cap an amazing day.
Well done to all of our players, you have made us very proud and performed incredibly.
