Waltham Forest School Games - Sitting Volleyball

Our Sitting Volleyball team visited Peter May on Tuesday and competed in the inaugral Sitting Volleyball competition. They had a bit of knowledge having attempted the game in some PE lessons but as with most teams and individals, this was a brand new experience. They started well with a couple of wins and ended up top of their group with three wins and a draw.
The most pleasing things to observe were the growing confidence throughout the competition and the improvement, especially with many of their serves.
They won a tough semi final which meant they qualified for the final. The final was an incredibly tight game: 11-11 with seconds to spare. Keira had to serve and she hit the winning shot. 12-11 and we were champions!
This is a fantastic achievement, especially as it is a new game that the children learnt as they played. They will now represent Waltham Forest in the London Youth Games, early next year. Well done team.
