Will my child be taught by their normal class teacher?
 
Not necessarily. Due to the small bubble sizes, it will not be possible for all children to be taught by their normal class teacher.  Where possible, children will be taught by either their class teacher or a member of staff that they have worked with before. The Year Group teaching team will work together to set work for their classes.
 
Will my child be taught in their normal classroom?
 
Not necessarily. Due to the location of the toilets, we have moved Year 1 to the Year 2 classrooms to allow them to have their own toilets; to enable us to monitor their usage and to reduce the number of children using the same toilets.
 
Will children still get playtimes and what will they do?
 
Yes, children will have playtimes. Their allocated adult will accompany and supervise them where they will be encouraged to play games that don’t involve being near to each other.  Break times will be supervised by class teachers and lunch times will be supervised by Midday Assistants.
 
How will children access the toilets?
 
Children will have access to the toilets as usual, but will only be allowed to go one at a time. They will need to wash their hands as they leave their bubble and then wash their hands as they would normally do when leaving the toilets.  Children in Reception and Year 1 will be accompanied by an adult who will wait in the corridor to ensure no other children from other bubbles enter.
 
Are school proving hand sanitiser?
 
Yes and we will be providing soap for hand washing in all classrooms.
 
Will children be washing their hands? and how often?
 
Yes, adults and children will wash them every time they enter or leave their bubble. Children will also wash their hands mid-morning and mid-afternoon ensuring that they are washed, at a minimum, every 2 hours.
 
I normally drop off or pick up my child at the front office, will I still be able to do this?
 
No, all children will have to enter through their allocated classroom door.
 
What can my child bring to school?
 
A packed lunch and a coat if necessary.  This should be in one bag that will kept in their allocated space and only be touched by them.  Year 6 will be asked to bring in a named pencil case. Please ensure no additional items from home are brought in to school. Children will not be able to bring items in for Show and Tell for the foreseeable future.
 
How often should I wash my child’s uniform?
 
We request that uniform is washed at the end of each day.
 
Does my child need to wear school uniform?
 
Yes, although we recognise that some items may not fit so there is no requirement to buy anything new if this would cause you financial hardship.
 
What if my child feels unwell?
 
If your child is at all unwell with even a minor symptom of any illness, then do not bring them to school. Consult with the NHS or your GP.
 
Can I bring siblings to school on the pick-up and drop off?
 
If your child has siblings that are not currently in school, then yes they may come with you on the school run if there is no one else to look after them. Please try to leave them at home with another adult if at all possible, as we want to limit the number of people on site.
 
My child currently accesses the school as I am a key worker, what will happen for these children?
 
All children in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 who are currently accessing the Key Worker provision are able to go into their class bubble group, however they will have to remain with that group for the foreseeable future.  This will mean they will not be able to come in full time as class bubble provision is two days a week for now.  If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 and needs a full time place or provision for more than two days, your child must stay in the Key Worker bubble.  Children of Key Workers in Years 2, 3, 4 or 5 will continue in the Key Worker bubble full time if needed.
 
How do I drop off siblings in different age groups?
 
You will bring all siblings at the same time slot and drop one off at a time as you follow the one-way system around the school.  If your child is in Year 6, he or she will be able to walk to class after leaving you at the gate.  Please remind your Year 6 child of the importance of socially distancing as they walk to class.
 
What about my child in Year 2, 3, 4 or 5 what will happen for them?
 
Online learning will continue for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6.
 
Will my child be able to access the before and after school care when school reopens?
 
Before and After school club will remain closed for the time being.
 
My child is in Reception, what will the provision look like for them?
 
We will not be expecting Reception children to sit at tables all day. They will be in their own bubble of up to 15 children.  The provision will be similar to the normal Early Years provision and only with resources that can be safely wiped or cleaned at the end of the day.  Children are not able to bring in items from home other than a lunch and a coat if needed.
 
Do children and staff need to wear face masks?
 
Government Guidance states: “Schools and other education or childcare settings should not require staff, children and learners to wear face coverings. Changing habits, cleaning and hygiene are effective measures in controlling the spread of the virus.”
 
Can I talk with the class teacher at the end of the day?
 
As always, communication between class teacher and parents/carers is vital.  Due to social distancing rules, it may be difficult at the end of the day to speak to the teacher. Please contact the school office via email if you would like the class teacher to contact you.
 
It’s my child’s birthday can we bring in birthday sweets to share?
 
Unfortunately, we are not able to allow children to bring in any food items to share.
 
Will the children need PE kits?
 
Currently, children do not need PE kits.  We will inform you if this changes.
 
Will my child miss out on learning if they stay at home?
 
As much as possible, we will provide children with an online curriculum which follows what we are teaching in school. 
 
Will my child be with their friends?
 
Where possible, bubbles will be organised by the class teacher and will allow for friendship groups to remain together.  Any concerns regarding pupils' mental wellbeing will be addressed with support and sensitivity.
 
Will I be able to visit the school office during the day?
 
Please avoid visiting the school office during the school day, we ask you to email or phone if you have any queries. 
 
How will I be notified if my child gets hurt at school?
 
We will not be issuing the accident slips.  Instead, you will receive an email from the school office if your child has had a minor injury or accident.  If your child has a head/serious injury, a member of staff will phone you.  We will continue to follow our Safeguarding Policy.
