Dear Parents and Carers
At Handsworth, we are all really excited to be taking part in Sport Relief 2020!
Sport Relief is one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events. It brings the entire nation together to get active, raise money and change the lives of people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.
This year the Sports Council and Year 6 pupils will be planning and running all fundraising activities on Friday 13th March to help raise money for this great charity. These include:
Be a sport and dress up (£1)
Dress up and join in with the spirit of the day! Be your favourite sportsperson, trophy or even a piece of sports equipment! Be as creative and imaginative as you wish.
Sport and Science Cinema (£1)
(Please note: Reception and Year 1 will be organising their own showing)
Book in advance to see one of the following films on Sport Relief day. Year 6 pupils will visit your class before the event to sell tickets.
9.20am: Happy Feet (U) – Dancing penguins try to save their home (1h 40 mins).
11.15am: The Universe (PG) – Secrets of the sun (40 minutes).
1pm: Back of the Net (PG) – A girl ends up at a football camp by mistake (1h 25 mins).
Sports challenges (50p per go or 3 goes for £1)
Have a go at some of our sporting challenges:
Kick ups, Penalty shootout, Target zone, Obstacle Course and many more…
Cakes! Cakes! Cakes!
As always, whether it’s cupcakes, biscuits or tray bakes, we would like your donations for our great Handsworth Cake Sale! Remember, they must not contain nuts!
Please bring all donations to the Year 6 classrooms or the office on Friday 13th March and ensure that any tins/containers have a label with the child’s name and class clearly visible.
Finally, don’t forget, you could ask friends and family to sponsor you for your own individual challenge: a run, bike ride, swim or anything you choose, over any distance that you think will challenge you. If you would like a fundraising form, please see Mr Mussell.
