Phonics at home

Every day at school, your children spend part of their day learning phonics. This is where we teach the fundamentals of reading and writing. From next week, we will be streaming across Year 1 and 2 for phonics to make sure every child is getting highly targeted phonics teaching every day.



Set 1
Click on the images to access the links to video lessons. You might want to start from the beginning and work through the whole set. If your child is very confident with these sounds,  choose sounds they find more difficult or regularly mix up

Set 2
When your child can recognise all the Set 1 sounds immediately and read words containing those sounds. Move on to Set 2. 

Set 3
In Set 3, children learn alternative ways of reading and writing the sounds that they already know. This is tricky and it usually takes a while to master these sounds in reading and writing.
