Make your own tribal mask

08 Apr 2020

Good evening Year 1,

While searching for some activities for you to do, I came across these masks. They are quite easy and fun to make. The ideas came from an art blog called Souffleur De Reve. Why don't you have a go at making one?

Hi everyone! I recognise that sculpture in the second slide! It's an ivory mask referred to as the 'Queen Mother Pendant Mask' and it is of Queen Idia who was a powerful and politically smart woman. It was made in 16th Century and was taken from Benin, Nigeria. You can see more Benin art here: https://www.britishmuseum.org/sites/default/files/2019-09/Benin_art_Nov2015.pdf
