Home Reading Diary Update
Thank you to all our parents and carers who shared feedback about home reading diaries. We have listened and are pleased to let you know that optional home readers will now be sent home in your child’s book bag at home time today. The home reading diary also contains our RWI phonics sounds, high frequnecy words and useful gudiance when reading with your child.
A few reminders:
- Daily reading: Reading homework is 10 minutes daily.
- Book changes: Phonics and reading-for-pleasure books will be changed every Friday, provided the previous books are returned.
- Optional home readers: These are completely optional and for home use only. Please use them in whatever way works best for your child and family. Teachers will not be looking at these.
- Reading logs: Logging reading in relation to these books is entirely optional. We understand some families find this useful, while others prefer simply to enjoy reading together.
- Keeping home reading diaries at home: As these are paper books, you may prefer to keep them at home rather than transport them to school.
We hope you enjoy sharing stories together and building your child’s confidence and love of reading! If you have any questions, please do speak to us.
Thank you for your continued support.
With kindness,
Year One Team
