This week is ‘Hour of Code’ week, where you are expected to complete at least one hour of coding.
(This is separate to the ‘Cracking Codes’ unit we have been looking at in school.)
Variables and Functions
You will learn how to program by starting to code with algorithms, loops, conditionals and events and then moving on to functions.
Follow the link to the code.org project for Year 5 (studio.code.org/s/coursee-2020) and then complete the step by step tutorial. You can use a tablet, a computer or a phone.
This project should last you two weeks (one hour each Monday).
Extension:
If you complete the project, you can move on to the Year 6 project on Inputs and Outputs (studio.code.org/s/coursef-2020), where you will investigate different problem solving techniques and discuss the impacts of computing and the internet on our society.
