Parent Governor Vacancy

12 Jun 2015

Would you be interested in becoming a Parent Governor on the School Governing Body?

Handsworth’s Governing Body supports the school and the Head Teacher. We aim to ensure the school has clear aims and values that are championed by the whole school community. All the work we do has pupil achievement and progress and school improvement at its heart. We work with the Head Teacher and staff in raising standards of achievement, establishing high expectations and promoting effective teaching and learning so that every pupil achieves to the best of his or her ability.

Our Governing body constitutes 13 volunteers who are parents, staff and members of the wider community.  We meet formally either once or twice a term in the evening.  We also meet as smaller sub committees (Resources and Teaching & Learning) once every half term.  A governor’s term of office is four years.

If you are interested in becoming a parent governor, please notify the school office by Friday 26th June 2015.  If you would like more information, please feel free to get in contact via the ‘Contact Governors’ button on the Governing Body page on the website.

In the likely event that there are multiple parents interested, we will have an election.  This will involve each parent writing 100 words describing why they are interested in becoming a governor and parents will get the opportunity to vote based on this.

This is a great opportunity to become involved in your child’s school at a strategic level, join a great hard-working team and is a very rewarding role.
