Governors' Letter to Parents 13 Feb 2019

13 Feb 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with great regret that I write to inform you that after 8 years, Jill Augustin will be resigning from her post as Head Teacher at Handsworth Primary School.  Please see her resignation letter attached. Jill is moving on to a new post this autumn, remaining with us until the end of the 2019 summer term.

Jill has been a highly effective Head of Handsworth school. During her time with us, she has led and supported a team, and ensured the continued success and development of our school, its staff and pupils. We are proud to be part of a school that continues to be over-subscribed and that is highly regarded within the local community.

The Governing Body has started the recruitment process for a new Head Teacher. We will be looking for a strong candidate to take over the position of Head. We do however wish to highlight that Jill will continue to lead the school until the end of the summer term, and school life will continue as usual.

On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to thank Jill for her hard work, commitment and dedication to the achievements and progress of the children at Handsworth Primary School. We are very sorry to lose Jill but we wish her all the best in her new role.

Kind regards

Alina Harris
Chair of Governors

Dear Parents and carers,

I am writing to inform you that after eight incredibly enjoyable years as Headteacher at Handsworth Primary School I have made the decision to accept a new position as Headteacher within another local authority from September 2019. This new challenge will allow me to continue to learn and grow professionally.

My years at Handsworth have been wonderful and given me the privilege and pleasure of seeing hundreds of children develop and flourish as confident, successful young people. I have learnt a huge amount during my time here and I am very proud of the part I have played in making Handsworth the thriving school that it is today.

I would like to say a big thank you to you all for the support that you have given me over the years. This school enjoys an excellent reputation in the Borough. This is attributed to the exemplary behaviour of our children and the quality of care and education provided by all the team at Handsworth. I know I will be leaving the school in very safe hands; we are fortunate in having a strong governing body and leadership team and very many brilliant and committed staff who are passionate about improving the education and well-being of our children. I have met with the children in Key Stage Two today so that they are reassured and understand that change can be good.

I would like to reassure you that the Governing Body have started the process for appointing my successor. We will keep you updated on the outcome.
Handsworth will always be a special place for me and I look forward to spending my remaining time with the children and ensuring that the school continues to move forward to be the best it can be.

I hope that you all have a lovely half term break.

Kind regards,

Jill
