3RT and 3JP visit Highams Park Baptist Church

12 Feb 2014

3RT and 3JP visited Highams Park Baptisit Church on Tuesday to conclude the topic of signs and symbols in R.E. Jonathan was extremely welcoming and answered lots of questions that the children had, folowed by a short video of someone bring baptised in the church.  He then allowed them to walk around the church freely and even walk through the baptistry that was open for us.

What symbols did you see?  Can you spot any in the pictures below?  Can you remember what they are a symbol of?

The Baptistry was left open so that we could see the depth of it and the Communion table was prepared.

Jonathan talks to the children about the church and its symbols.

The children roam the church, looking for and discussing symbols.

Look out for a half term project linked to the learning of this topic.

A bath is called a baptistery I wonder if there are any lapoissons in there? And you use a baptistery when people believe in Jesus and when you get baptised your head goes under the water an then you know that your a follower of Jesus and nobody can take that away from you, and you believe in Jesus so you can go to the perfect place heaven.
