3RT become archaeologists

29 Sep 2014

We are currently studying the Ancient Egyptians as our topic this term and it gave the children in 3RT the opportunity to become archaeologists for the day.

We started by discussing what an archaeologist does and why it is relevant to our topic.  Each child then had a picture of an Egyptian artefact and had to guess what it was and what it may have been used for.  They then wrote their ideas on a post it note.  There were some very interesting ideas!!!

What did you think your artefact was??

Once we had shared and discussed our 'interesting thoughts' it was time to research the true identity and need for the artefacts.  The children drew the artefact into their books and explained what they thought it was and then what it actually was and what it was used for.

What did you find out?

Do you have any pictures or even the real thing?  Bring them in to show the class and become a true archaeologist.

I discovered that the make up box was right and I found some information about it. It was used for men and women to protect them form the sun. From Olivia-May.
