IMPLICATIONS:
Handsworth exceeds both locally and nationally the expected outcomes, with the exception of the level 5 writing.  This has also impacted the overall English and maths combined percentages.  However the gap between school and national/local from 2012 to 2013 has significantly reduced in writing (11% gap in 2012, down to 5% in 2013).  With a second year focussing on higher level writing, we are confident the standards will continue to improve and overtake national standards.  The school performed extremely well with the new SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation And Grammar) testing.  Sustained scores in SPAG will help to further improve overall English and writing results.
