Week beginning 4.3.13
06 Mar 2013
Marvellous Week!
We’ve had a fantastic week what with our visit from Max and World Education. Here’s a snippet of what we’ve been learning and links to consolidate and extend that learning at home.
Literacy:
This week we have been researching the author and illustrator ‘Emily Gravett’. We used the laptops to go on her website (see the link below) and find as many interesting facts about her as we could. Can you tell somebody the facts you found out? What is a fact? We used this information to write a biography about her. See the links below:

We also wrote a blog about her using the following website:

You can see our blogs on 2CD’s homepage.
Reading:
We are continually working on comprehension at the moment. If you read a book with ‘Oxford Owls’ – click the link below – there are comprehension questions at the end of the book. Alternatively come and see me and I can give you some examples/sheets if you’d like to do some at home.

The higher the age group you chose on this website, the harder the comprehension becomes. I also have more challenging comprehension in the class if you wish to try some.
Maths:
This week we have been learning about time. We have been converting analogue time to digital – using 24hours digital. We then used this to problem solve. Try the links below to practise:

Try to come up with your own time problem – the most original problem will win a prize!
Science:
This week we went around our school grounds looking at which plants and animals we could see and where we found them – looking at their habitats. Try the following website to extend learning about other animals such as nocturnal animals:

Next week we are going to Highams park to compare habitats, therefore any preparation which can be done be it reading about habitats or going to see them yourselves will be fantastic!
