Week Beginning 21.1.13
This week the recent snow was incorporated into our planning.
The children enjoyed taking part in a snowman competion.
They also wrote an acrostic poem based on the word WINTER and enjoyed drawing winter trees using charcoal.
Can you try writing another acrostic poem at home with a different word?
In literacy we have been continuing with our work on the book Traction Man.
- We have had a first go at writing a comic strip
- We have made a story map
- We have designed our own box for a toy and thought about advertising
- We have written our own story based on the main characters "Scrubbing Brush" and "Traction Man".
Our handwriting focus this week has been on the letters: m, p, u, y, i
Our phonics this week are: a-e, i-e, o-e, u-e, aw
Our Spellings this week are:
Group 1 - brother, sister, another, saw, water, here
Group 2 - now, how, look, took, her, put
In Numeracy we have been learning about number order. We have been using the vocabulary "less, more, between" and ordinal language "1st (first), 2nd (second) 3rd (third)..."
In Science we have been finding out about natural and man-made materials
In R.E (see photos on school website) we were delighted that the Vicar of All Saints' Church Highams Park came to talk to the children about Baptism.
