Hatching Chicks

20 Mar 2014

Having the eggs.....and chicks has been a wonderful experience for the Reception children.  Lots of learning
has taken place and the children have enjoyed sharing their observations about the changes that have
taken place before their eyes.

What has your child enjoyed about having the eggs and chicks?  Please write a comment below.  We love to hear what the children have been telling you about the new additions to Reception.

Isobel has been very excited about the new chicks hatching, prior to this she kept reminding us that they were in incubation! There have been many rich learning experiences through-out the year in RIL, the continued efforts and energy do not go unnoticed! The website updates really help to give a real illustration of what the children do during the weeks, and we are bowled over by Isobel's progress in her learning and inter-personal development. "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life…" How wonderful!

Thank you for your lovely comments. It is great to hear that Isobel is using words like 'incubation' and is continuing her learning at home by talking about and sharing her experiences. Fantastic! Having the chicks has been wonderful and both Isobel & Cillian have been wonderful carers, constantly going to RHW to check that they are OK.

This experience has made a big impression on Melissa - this morning we had a re-enactment of the hatching chicks with Melissa and her sister pretending to hatch from their duvets! It's been great for them to have witnessed this and Melissa has clearly learned a lot.
