Week 2 Summer Term

Miss Jordaan - 26 Apr 2020

Good Day Year 4MJ

I'm a poet and I didn't even know it...

Hope you had a lovely weekend with your families.

Thank you to all of you that have done and submitted your homework on the class homework page.

I was amazed by all the lovely work that you've done last week. I particularly loved the work about me singing opera in class. You wrote some amazing stories. Well done! I was also very impressed with all of you who've used the fronted adverbials and conjunctions that we've been learning about in class. Keep up with your splendid creative writing.

Some parents have asked for support with specific units of work that you are still struggling with in Maths. Mr Dawes and I will have a look at the planning for the next few weeks and see how we can incorporate these in your daily learning. In the meantime have a close look at the videos every day with the explanations. You are also allowed to have a look at the answers as you are doing your work. Just like we do in class, mark your work as you go along, so you can see if you are on the right track. If your answers are wrong, have a look at the correct answers and see if you can figure out how they got to the answer.

Remember to read everyday and try out some of the challenges.  The more you read the more you learn!

Don't forget to practise your weekly spellings. With the spellings remember you are in year 4 and I expect that you will write extended sentences by now. Use fronted adverbials, adverbs, noun phrases, adjectives, conjunctions, a variety of puncutation etc... You are also allowed to use more than one of your spelling words in a sentence. Some of you also impressed me when you wrote a short story using all of the spelling words throughout the story. Let's see who can do this again...

I hope you have tried out the Chess, Music and PE lessons. Let me know which are your favourite lessons.

I would like to say well done to all the children for working so hard at home. I would also like to thank the parents for all the work that you are doing with our children.  As always, you and your children are amazing and I am so glad to have you as part of our Year 4 Team.

Hope you will all have an amazing week and that you will tackle all the challenges with great enthusiasm.

I'm looking forward to checking your homework this week.

Go for gold!

Miss Jordaan
