Year 4 WOW Day

01 Jun 2012

YEAR 4 WOW DAY!!!
We had lots of fun at our Viking WOW Day, it was a great introduction to our History topic next term and gave us a chance to learn lots of interesting things about how the Vikings lived.

We all dressed up as Romans, Saxons and Vikings and spent the day taking part in different activities all about the Vikings.

We had fun making Viking food (Oatcakes), dyeing cloth with natural dyes (made from smelly vegetables!), building a longboat, making belt buckles, designing our own Viking shields and making our very own music video (which you can see at our Year 4 assembly on 15.06.12).

More pics to follow......

Some quotes from the children in 4JB:

"I learnt that Vikings were clean and that they washed every Saturday" (Jessie)

"I learnt that they used food to colour their clothes"  (Tarrun)

"I found out that they used spoons to clean their ears and noses with!"  (Omar)

"I thought it was the most fun day we have ever had in school" (Louis)

"It was really fun and everyone's costumes were amazing. " (Thomas)

"I believed I was a Viking warrior from 9.00  till 3.30 p.m. it was so good."  (Ella)

"It was the best time of my life!" (Khiyana)

"We had a fabulous day and I hope the children are looking forward to learning more about the Vikings next half term!"  (Miss Walby)
