COOKING AND BAKING - Yum Fun!

22 May 2020

Hello everyone,

Here are some great cooking and baking recipes including smoothies and fruit kebabs you may want to try! Following a recipe and making food with your kids is a great opportunity to get some home learning in at the same time!

*Talk about the ingredients you are using. Like where they have come from, how they are grown, what else those same ingredients could be used for!

*Measuring ingredients out is a great visual way to learn about different measurements like, grams, kilograms,  litres and millilitres.  You can also explore shapes and discuss time.

*Even reading the recipe itself gives kids an opportunity to practice their reading and perhaps learn new vocabulary that they may not have heard of!

*Cooking with younger children, is an excellent way to help develop their fine motor skills. Measuring out ingredients, stirring, and even cutting up ingredients (be sure to use a safe kid-friendly knife!) can all be easy ways to develop motor skills.

*By helping to prepare a family meal or some snacks and then serving it up themselves can give children a massive sense of achievement and boosts their confidence!

Happy cooking and baking!  Please remember to send me photos of your YUM achievements!

Lots of love heart
Miss Nadeem

Fruit kebabs are the perfect summer refreshment for the whole family. Watch the video below with your family and cook along together. Use a variety of fruits and don’t forget to wash them. Fruit kebabs are very nutritious. They are so simple to make and SOOO yummy!
