FOH Update October 2012

01 Oct 2012

Dear Friends of Handsworth

Firstly, thanks to all those that attended (and particularly those that baked for) the Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning held last Friday. We raised a total of £228.83 for Macmillan Cancer Care which really will go a long way.

Some dates for your diary....
Below is a list of events FOH plan to hold this school year. All dates are now in the school's diary.

- Kids Disco - Friday 26 October 2012 - Volunteers needed. See flyer once distributed.
- Parents Party - Asian Fusion Theme Saturday 10 November 2012
- Christmas Market - Friday 30 November 2012
- Father Christmas Visits - Monday 17 & Tuesday 18 December 2012 - Volunteers needed, particulary those willing to don a big red suit!. More info to follow.
- Chrismas Tea and Cakes - Friday 21 December 2012
- Roald Dahl (or A.N Other!) Day - Date TBC
- Quiz Night - Saturday 2 March 2013
- Easter Bunny Visit - Friday 28 March 2013
- Easter Tea & Cakes - Friday 28 March 2013
- Summer Fete - Saturday 15 June 2012
- Summer Tea & Cakes - Wednesday 24 July 2012

As ever, we will need volunteers to help at all of these events. If you are able to help at any, or see one that particulary interests you, let me know. If you would like a casual chat about volunteering posibilities, please feel free to drop me a line on the number below.
We will email you again nearer the time regarding specific events and will probably use the opportunity to request help. Any time you are able to offer, no matter the scale, is hugely appreciated and it is always great when new people are able to contribute.. It did not go unnoticed that there were some new bakers among us at the Macmillan morning!!

Scooters... The preferred method of transport!
The new scooter pods are proving very popular culminating in more students scooting to school. FOH have agreed to fund an extra scooter pod so that the increased number of scooters can be catered for. The school has asked us to remind all that scooters must be left in the pods and are not to be used in the playgrounds.

Do Ray Me Far So La Ti Do...
Would you be interested in joining a community choir made up of Handsworth parents and carers? There has been quite a bit of interest and the school are happy to support the choir by letting us rehearse in the school's small hall for free. We have a ready and willing choir leader on hand who can't wait to get us all making silly faces and noises with her warm ups!! Watch this space for more info once we've firmed things up a bit.

And last but by no means least, I have been asked to forward the link below. It relates directly to a friend of one of our FOH members but the charity works with children all over the UK. Please take the time to watch this clip and donate to the Tree of Hope charity through Just Giving if you feel able to.

Kind regards
