Happy New Year to you all. We hope that you all had a fabulously fun, relaxing and welcome holiday and are now ready for the next dynamic and exciting half term in Year 4. We would both like to say a huge thank you for all the lovely presents you so kindly bought for us.

This term, our Creative Curriculum topic is titled Location, Location, Location.
This theme will cover all manner of subjects.
In English, we will be reading stories from Africa and India and we will use these to support our writing. We will also be using non-fiction texts to research how life in India compares to our own.
For an overview of the Maths we will be covering this term, please see the attached file.
In Science, we will be completing our topic on Eating and Digestion and then we will be going on to learn about Living in Environments.
In Geography, we will be exploring the Indian village of Chembakolli. We will investigate the physical and human features (climate, jobs, schools and shops) and how these relate to city life and our own lives.
In RE. we will be linking our work in Geography to why Hindus worship at home and at a Mandir.

In Art, the children will be continuing to work with Ms Blackborow, on the Take One Picture project linked into the story of the elephant and the tortoise and Indian Artwork.
In Music, this term we will be working on performing poetry linked in with stories from other cultures.
We will be having French lessons in 4LW and chess lessons in 4JL up till half term.
As last term, spellings will be sent home on Friday for a test the following Thursday (Both classes)
Maths  homework will go home on Friday to be returned the following Thursday.
Maths homework group will continue on Tuesday lunchtimes 12-45-1.15 this term.
Reading books will continue to be changed on the same days as before, when they have been signed in the home school diary. Please ensure that you read, share and discuss the books with your child.
As always, you are very welcome to speak to us after school. If you feel you need a longer time to talk, please ring the school office in advance to arrange an appointment.
