                                        Description: C:\Users\lwilson60.320\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\0T0SUPG2\welcome-back[1].jpeg

Welcome back Year 4. We do hope that you all had a wonderful summer and are ready to come back and learn lots of new and exciting things.

This term we will be reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis as part of our English topic on Fantasy Worlds. We can’t wait to discuss the story and how the characters develop and change over each chapter.

For Maths, please see the website for the whole year’s overview. We will be working on our times tables this year and having weekly tests, so make sure you start practicing!

In Science, we will be exploring and experimenting with different states of matter.

In Geography, we will be improving our map-reading skills and comparing the World in the time of the British Empire to 2015.

In RE, we will be exploring Buddhist Festivals and finding out who Buddhists celebrate special events.

In Art, the children will be working with Ms Blackborow, our Arts specialist, on a topic linked to History and they are waiting with excitement to discover what they will be doing. Could we ask you to send in any newspaper you have at home and a large, old shirt for your child to use during art lessons.

In music we will be focussing on pitch through the theme ‘Around the World’

PE: 4LW will have PE on Wednesdays and 4JL will have their lesson on Thursdays.

Swimming: Will be every Tuesday afternoon for 10 weeks, starting on 15th September.

Dates for your diary:
Visit to Vestry House: Wednesday 21st October

Homework: This will be given out on Fridays to be returned on the following Thursday.
Please ensure that homework is completed every week, neatly and to a high standard. We want all the children to be proud of their work.

Reading Books: Books can only be changed when parents have signed the Home-School Diary to say that the book has been read, shared and discussed.

You are very welcome to speak to us after school. If you feel you need a longer time to talk, please ring the office in advance to arrange an appointment.

Best wishes for a brilliant half term.
Mrs Leftwich and Mrs Wilson
