This term, our Creative Curriculum topic is titled Location, Location, Location.
This theme will cover all manner of subjects.
In literacy, we will be reading stories from around the world and we will use these to support our writing. We will also be using non-fiction texts to research how life in other parts of the world compares to our own.
In numeracy, we will be comparing and ordering numbers up to 10,000, recognising negative numbers in context, deriving doubles and halves of multiples of 10-500/100-5000, multiplying mentally, 2D symmetry and 3D polyhedron and tetrahedron, understanding standard metric/imperial units of capacity and reading simple timetables. We will also learn multiplication/division facts by heart of which quick recall of these facts are very important. We will also incorporate solving word problems for each of these areas of study.
In science, we will be completing our topic on States of Matter (solids, liquids and gases) and going onto learning about Circuits and Conductors.
In geography, we will be exploring the Indian village of Chembakolli. We will investigate the physical and human features (climate, jobs, schools and shops) and how these relate to city life and our lives.
In RE. we will be linking our work in geography to why Hindus worship at home and at a mandir.
