Year 4 Autumn term 2nd Half

05 Nov 2014

Year 4 Newsletter Autumn Term 2nd half.
Welcome back to another dynamic half term in Year 4. We are continuing with our Victorian theme up till the end of this term. However for the start of this half term, we will using the BBC’s 10 pieces of music website for our topic work. Our chosen piece is Mars, the Bringer of War from the Holst Planets suite.
After the creative fortnight, we will resume our usual timetable. In  English, we will be  writing our own newspapers, information texts and poetry. Within guided reading, we will be focusing on stories with Historical settings by Charles Dickens  In RE, we will be exploring the Christmas Journey of all the people who were part of the Nativity story.  In Design and Technology, we will be making a decoupage Victorian style Christmas or greeting card, and in music, we will be continuing to learn about scales within melodies.  In addition to this we will be studying States of Matter in Science.
In Maths, areas of study will include decimals, percentages and their equivalent fractions
measurement, statistics, mental multiplication and division and written formal methods for all operations.
