P4C - Internet safety

13 Feb 2014

After Internet Safety Day on Tuesday, 3RT had a P4C lesson, focusing on safe use of the Internet.  They started by discussing issues that had arisen from the talk and sharing their opinions by standing on one side of the classroom or the middle if they were yet to make their mind up.  Children from either side would put forward their opinion and others were able to move at any time during the discussion.

After this the children got into groups of 6 and decided what statements they strongly agreed with or strongly disagreed with or somewhere in between.  Some of the statements found themselves in different positions with different groups and it made for very interesting discussions and debates.

Here is Beau explaining why his group disagreed with the statement, 'All other players are children'.

What are your thoughts on any of the discussions we had today or from the presentation on Tuesday?

My favourite part was when we had to strongly agree or disagree with different statements. From Nina

It's really important that you stay safe on the internet because if you tell them all about your private information and once you said it to a random person who knows what could happen. Boris

This was a really fun lesson. The best part was when we had to stand on the 'yes' or 'no' side and give a reason why we stood on that side. Beatrice
