Homework week beginning 1.7.2013
03 Jul 2013
Literacy:
This week we have been looking at non-fiction books and how we use different features within non-fiction books e.g. the contents page, index and glossary. We’ve also been learning how to use a dictionary and thesaurus properly to find definitions and spellings of words.
Try some of the following websites to look at non-fiction books and their features:

Numeracy:
In numeracy this week we are learning about time. We have been learning to read the time to the 5 minutes on an analogue and digital clock e.g. twenty past 10 and 10:20, five to 6 and 5:55. We have also been applying this knowledge to answer time problems. Have a go at some of the games and problems involving time below:

You could also explore the Science Museum website to see some of the things we learnt about on Friday. This website also has some related games and fun things to make.

History:
This week we have been looking at timelines. We have been discussing what a timeline is. We have been ordering some significant moments in our lives on a time line. We have also been using a timeline to order significant events which happened before we were born. Take a look at the following time line and see if you can spot anything interesting. Add events from your past to the timeline.

R.E.
This week we have been comparing places of worship in Kenya with places of worship in London. We have looked at churches and schools in Kenya and seen that they are very basic with a lot of them based outside. The church community in Kenya has a strong sense of community, often coming together to bake, sing and share experiences. We saw some wonderful pictures of Miss Lloyds time in Kenya. See if you can find other pictures of places of worship in Kenya. How are they different/similar to places of worship here?
