Phonics week beginning 24.9.2012

25 Sep 2012

Sounds:

This term we will be re-visiting sounds learnt during year 1. We are using the phonics assessments carried out for each child at the end of year 1, as well as current phonics assessment to inform phonics planning. This week we are re-visiting the following sounds:

  ee   ea   e_e

Please practise saying these sounds at home with your children and talking about/spelling words which have these sounds in them e.g.

sweet, free,  bead, tea, these, stampede etc

It is also important to say/write these words within sentences.

Children should also practise reading ‘non-words’ with these sounds in e.g. pleesh, cheeth, theap, shlean, clede, swefe, etc to support the development of phonetic decoding without word recognition.
