This week in 1DL, aswell as practicing with Year 2 and Reception for the infant nativity; we have been very busy.
We have been learning
* the pairs of numbers that make 5 (5+0, 4+1, 3+2 etc)
* the pairs of numbers that make 6 (6+0. 5+1, 4+2, 3+3 etc)
* the pairs of numbers that make 7 (7+0, 6+1, 5+2, 4+3, 3+4 etc)
* the pairs of numbers that make 8 (8+0, 7+1, 6+2, 5+3, 4+4 etc)
It is very important that the children can recall these number facts off by heart and use them for helping to work out calculations;
Such as 17+5
By being aware that 5 is made from 3+2, it is possible for children to carry out the calcuation using this method. 17 + 3 = 20 then add 2
We have been reading the Christmas Story.
The children have been making their own Nativity Book by writing about a different aspect of the story each day.
Aswell as ensuring they use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops, we have also been using speech marks to enhance our writing.
The final spelling test for this half term will be on Thursday 13th December.
Some children will be revising some of the "tricky" key words again; other children will have some topic words to practice.
